Opening Existing Shows

Producer opens a show from disk, from the recent files list, or directly from a Director node on the network.

Opening from Disk

Choose File → Open... or press Ctrl+O. The file dialog filters for the WATCHOUT show format (.watch).

For recent work, choose File → Open Recent. Producer lists up to 9 recent shows.

Opening from a Director

To work on a show already running on a Director node, choose File → Open Show from Director and select the Director. This connects to the live show data instead of a local file.

The Welcome Screen offers the same connection through its Connect button.

Protecting Unsaved Work

If the current show has unsaved changes when you open a different one, Producer prompts you first. Choose Save, Don't Save, or Cancel. This applies whether you open from disk, from a Director, or from the recent files list.

Director Override Warnings

Opening a show from a Director that is already running a different show shows the Take Over Director? prompt. Taking over replaces the running show, which can interrupt playback. The prompt makes this choice deliberate. Choose Cancel, Open without Director, or Take Over.
