Creating a New Show

A show is the definition of your displays, timelines, cues, variables, and settings. It points to the assets it plays rather than embedding them. Every production begins by creating one.

A new show opens with an empty Stage and one timeline. No displays are defined, and no media is imported.

Starting a New Show

Create a new show in two ways:

  • On the Welcome Screen that appears when Producer launches, click New Show.
  • From the menu bar, choose File → New.

If the current show has unsaved changes, Producer asks whether to save before creating the new show. Choose Save, Don't Save, or Cancel.

What a New Show Contains

A new show starts with one timeline named Main Timeline (10 layers) and an empty Stage with a single base stage tier. No displays are defined.

The frame rate defaults to 60 FPS. Adjust it later in Show Properties.

Network Considerations

If the local Director is already running a show, opening or deploying a new show shows the Take Over Director? prompt. Choose Cancel, Open without Director, or Take Over. Taking over replaces the show the Director is currently running.
