Network Setup
WATCHOUT runs as a distributed system. The Producer, Director, Runner, and Asset Manager services run across one or more nodes on a network. This chapter covers how to set that network up and keep it healthy: discovery, role assignment, device binding, firewall ports, media transport, time sync, and day-to-day node maintenance.
Architecture and basics
- Network Overview — the four services, how nodes discover each other, and how to change roles
- Nodes — the nodes that host the services, their hardware, and how to set one up
- Connecting Devices — binding displays, audio devices, and capture sources to a node
Protocols and services
Device configuration (NDI / Dante / Spout / Deltacast / ST 2110 inputs and outputs) lives in the Devices chapter. The pages below are the network-side reference.
- Firewall Configuration — the ports WATCHOUT uses and the firewall rules it creates
- NDI on the Network — NDI® discovery, cross-subnet routing, and bandwidth
- ST 2110 Video Over IP — uncompressed video over IP through a Deltacast ST 2110 board
- Setting Up ST 2110 — commissioning a Deltacast ST 2110 board step by step
- Time Synchronization — how nodes share an aligned clock
Maintenance and management
- Node Management and Maintenance — the full set of node actions in the Nodes window
- Remote File Access — browsing and uploading files on remote nodes
- Working Directory Management — where a node stores cached media and show data
- Software Updates — pushing software updates from Producer to remote nodes
